Dunsmuir Elementary School District is one of Siskiyou County's best kept secrets. The district is made up of two schools. Dunsmuir Elementary is a K-8 elementary. Summit Academy is a community day school.
Dunsmuir Elementary School is set amongst the trees on a hillside. We have a full-size gym, state of the art technology (iPads, laptops, Smartboards) in the classrooms and available to all students, a state pre-school and an afterschool program. We also serve breakfast and lunch. We have 3 separate playgrounds for pre-school, primary and the upper grades. DES has all highly qualified credentialed teachers working with our students.
We also have classroom aides available. DES also has a watershed program which allows our students to become familiar with their surrounding environment. This program provides field trips for the students.
Summit Academy is the district's community day school which started in 1997. The students in the academy are held to the same standards and expectations as those at DES. The academy is taught by a highly qualified Credentialed teacher.
