Good afternoon, Wildcat families. As I'm sure some of you are aware, there was an incident that occurred at the south end of town this morning involving a motor vehicle accident where two suspects fled the scene on foot. Upon hearing this information via email alert, we took immediate precautions and initiated a soft lockdown. This included keeping the students indoors with all outside access doors locked. We did not send out any notifications to parents at the time because the SCSO had not advised us to do so. I was doing check-ins with the SCSO and once it was confirmed that the individuals were taken into custody, we then released the soft lockdown. There was no sense of panic with students or adults on campus at any time, as that was the goal. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Thank you for your continued support and trust, Kelli O'Connor koconnor@dunsmuir.k12.ca.us

Wildcat families…As many of you know we are in the planning phase for creating a Community School. The purpose of the Community School is to better serve you, our families, and our community in the ways you feel are most needed. This will not replace the fabulous school we already have. It will allow us more opportunities for the success of our students. We are starting our input sessions with student interviews and will then move on to doing the same with parents. We will add this input to what we already have; ie. snowboarding club, fly fishing club, mentoring etc. Please look for a permission slip for student interviews coming home tomorrow, Friday Feb. 26. We will begin interviews, Wednesday, January 31. We ask that you return the permission slips no later than Tuesday, January 30. If you would prefer to respond to the permission slip electronically, please access this link. https://forms.gle/uZmpPfqFpzZLP55RA This information we gather will be shared out at our next advisory committee meeting, February 21. You are invited to attend this meeting in person or via Zoom. Details will follow. Respectfully, Susan Keeler, Community School Planning Coordinator Jas Wilkinson, Community School Planning Parent Liaison
